The things you need to do before starting a business
Maybe you’re tired of searching for jobs, tired of losing your own voice in a larger corporation, or yearning for a platform to promote your own product or service. Whatever the reason, starting a business can be a valid option to pursue, although it does require a bit of serious thinking. Here are things that you need to make sure you have smoothed out before you embark on your own journey of starting a business:
- Be clear on the ‘why’
You have to have solid confidence in what your business is and why you want to start it. Be passionate, and also be specific—soon there will be a lot of stress clouding your mind so the question, “why am I doing this?” should be easily answered.
- Be clear on your target
An essential quality of a good business is a specific target audience. If you market a product or service to generally, you’re thinking won’t be as innovative and directed, and your customers won’t be as dedicated. For example, if I start a business that services young entrepreneurs I should choose a specific target audience such as self-publishers, singer songwriters, etc. This ensures that my business is specific and effective, being the best of a niche.
